It is a known fact that Nepal is a Himalayan country with eight of the fourteen world’s tallest mountain, with the tallest among all, Mount Everest. Although Nepal is mainly located in the Himalayas, there are also parts which belong to Indo-Gangetic Plain. This is the very reason why Nepal has such tremendous geographic diversity despite being small in size and, so it’s climatic condition. The weather may differ in different places given to its topography. The lowland of the Terai region which lies in the subtropical southern part of Nepal has a hot and humid climate that can rise above 45 degrees Celsius in the summer. The hill region’s climate is an average all the year. The climate of the Himalayas area is cold all the year, and the temperature even drops below minus degrees Celsius in winter.  

Seasons of Nepal

Nepal has a varied geography and has four seasons: summer, autumn, winter, and spring. You can visit Nepal in any season you like. However, the best season depends on for what purpose you are visiting. We will talk in detail about the seasons and the best adventures you can do during that time. All the tourists visiting Nepal love spring season. This season falls between February and April. During Spring, the temperature rises mildly. However, the night remains a bit of chill. It is this time of the year when Nepal’s national flower Rhododendron blooms in the hilly regions. This can be the best season for you if you are planning to pay a visit to Nepal for high altitude trekking as climate is dry but not too hot. It is also the best time to visit to watch the beautiful flowers blooming in the hills, sightseeing the monuments and heritage. Most of the Everest expeditions are conducted around late Spring time.

 Summer and Monsoon Season

Summer is the hottest season among all; it is the known fact. This season falls between May and June in Nepal, May being the hottest month. And then comes the monsoon in late June and the whole of July. Due to the heavy rain, roads become muddy, in which trekking is tough, and there will be leeches too. Domestic flights connecting remote areas of Nepal get canceled often due to inclement weather. The heavy rains during monsoon season triggers landslides in many places making it hard for people to move around.

As I said above, Spring is a loved season, but before Spring, it is Autumn. Autumn is tourist’s favorite season which starts from September to late November. After all the rain and mud, Autumn brings the clear blue sky and dry season. The temperature is mild, the sky is clear, giving you the perfect view of the Himalayas. It also the best season to visit for trekking, mountaineering and going for a wildlife safari.

Winter Season

Winter starts from December and ends in February. The day in Winter will be warm as you can bask in the warmth of the sun, but the night will be cold. During Winter, you can have a clear view of the mountains as the days are bright. You can also go trekking as it will warm you up.

Autumn season is the best season for trekking in Nepal as the recent monsoon clears all the smog and provides you the best view you can ever get. In Autumn, trekking paths are dry, and you won’t have to face the problems of muddy roads. The main attraction of Nepal is those great Himalayas, so it is the best season for trekking and looking at that magnificent art of nature in a more close way. Spring Season will be the best season for sightseeing in Nepal. There will be greenery with the Rhododendron blooming in the hills giving you the breathtaking sight of nature’s art. With the green forest and flowers blooming, thousands of birds migrate to Nepal. Spring is probably the best season to visit Nepal if you want sightseeing.

Winter and Spring Season

Winter, as well as Spring season, is good for the jungle safari but not as best as autumn season. In winter,  animals might be hibernating in warmth in their homes as the sunlight hardly reaches inside the forest. Spring season is also suitable for jungle safari in Terai region.
