Trip Highlights

- Sweeping views over Fewa Lake and the Pokhara valley from the ridge

- A cool, shaded forest descent with a few water crossings and loose, flowing corners
- A relaxed lakeshore finish past the Yellow Bridge and fishing villages back to Lakeside
- Route length is flexible, shorten or extend the ride to match your fitness and available time
- E-MTB upgrade available to ease the climb
When To Visit
Sarangkot’s biggest draw is the view, so timing matters:
- Best months: October–November and March–May, when the ridge is usually clear and the Annapurna panorama is at its sharpest.
- Avoid: The June–August monsoon. The forest descent gets slick, water crossings run higher, and cloud cover frequently hides the mountains – the main reason to do this ride in the first place.
- Winter (Dec–Feb): Generally clear and rideable, though it can be cold and windy on the exposed ridge sections; bring a layer.
Itinerary
Meet your guide at Lakeside for bike fitting, a safety briefing, and a route overview before heading out at a relaxed 9:00 AM start.
A gradual climb above the valley toward Dharapani and Lovely Hill. The air cools and the first Annapurna views open up a good stretch to settle into a climbing rhythm.
The longest and toughest section of the day, climbing steadily through Methlang and Gyarjati villages on paved and jeep-track sections. Regular water-break stops along the way, with expanding views over the valley and Fewa Lake. Finishes at the ridge’s panorama viewpoints.
The trail eases off the ridge and into terraced farmland and village paths, with looser, more varied terrain and a few short technical sections to keep things interesting.
A shaded, flowing descent through forest and past Pame, Margi, Khapaudi, and Sedi villages, finishing with a gentle ride along Fewa Lake’s shoreline, over the Yellow Bridge, and back into Lakeside.
Trek Difficulty & Physical Demands
This is a moderate ride built around two distinct challenges: a long climb and a lighter technical descent.
Fitness demands:
- A sustained climb of roughly 14 km and 800 m of elevation gain, mostly on paved road and jeep track
- This section is aerobic rather than technical; steady effort matters more than bike-handling skill
Technical demands:
- The descent runs through forest on a loose, occasionally leaf-covered trail with a few water crossings and short technical sections
- Manageable for most riders with basic off-road confidence; this is not comparable in difficulty to a dedicated singletrack descent
Who it suits:
- Riders with solid aerobic fitness who are comfortable on a long, steady climb
- Those who want the big Sarangkot panorama without needing advanced technical skills
- Not ideal as a true first-timer’s ride, but accessible to anyone reasonably fit; the E-MTB option and adjustable route length make it flexible
Best Time to Trek: Seasonal Comparison
| Season | Conditions | Recommended? |
| Autumn (Oct–Nov) | Clear skies, dry trails, and the sharpest mountain views | Highly recommended |
| Spring (Mar–May) | Clear mornings, dry descent, warm days | Highly recommended |
| Winter (Dec–Feb) | Cold and windy on the ridge, usually clear | Good, dress warmly |
| Monsoon (Jun–Aug) | Wet, slippery forest trail, higher water crossings, poor visibility | Not recommended |

Final Thoughts:
The Sarangkot Mountain Biking tour is the fitness rider’s version of Pokhara’s best-known view. Instead of a pre-dawn jeep ride, you climb to it steadily, through real villages, with the Annapurna range slowly opening up around you and come down through cool forest and quiet farmland to the lake. It’s less about hard technical trail and more about the satisfaction of a big climb honestly earned, followed by a relaxed, flowing finish.
For riders who want Pokhara’s signature panorama as part of an active, full day on the bike, this is the ride.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the AASRA ECO TREK
The climb is the demanding part about 800 m of gain over roughly 14 km on road and jeep track and it’s about fitness more than skill. The descent needs some basic bike handling for a loose, occasionally leaf-covered forest trail with a few water crossings, but most of the day is non-technical.
You ride the entire climb yourself. If you’d rather skip the climb and catch the sunrise instead, ask about our separate Sarangkot sunrise-and-descent option.
Yes. The climb suits road-fitness riders well, and the descent’s technical sections are moderate enough for most riders with basic off-road confidence.
There are sections of natural trail and forest track on the descent, but this ride is less technical overall than our Around Fewa Lake tour, which includes a dedicated singletrack descent.
Yes, the route can be adjusted from roughly 25 km up to 40 km depending on your fitness, time, and preference.
Yes, an e-MTB upgrade is available on request for an additional cost, which significantly eases the climb.
