Paragliding runs almost year-round in Pokhara, but conditions vary a lot by season:

  • Autumn (September-November): The peak season. Skies are clear after the monsoon, thermals are strong and predictable, and mountain visibility is at its best.
  • Spring (March-May): The second-best window. Warm days, active thermals, and good mountain views, though some afternoon haze can build up.
  • Winter (December-February): Quieter and colder, but often surprisingly clear a good option if you want fewer crowds.
  • Monsoon (June-August): Flyable on clear-weather days only, and flights are frequently postponed due to rain and cloud cover. If you’re only in Pokhara during monsoon, build in a spare day.

Flights typically go out in three daily windows: mid-morning, midday, and early afternoon  once the sun has warmed the valley enough to generate reliable thermals.

Itinerary

Our team picks you up from your hotel in Pokhara Lakeside in the morning or early afternoon.

A scenic 30-45 minute drive up to the Sarangkot launch site (1,592 m), with valley and mountain views along the way.

Your certified tandem pilot fits your harness and helmet and walks you through the short pre-flight briefing.

A short downhill run and you’re airborne, climbing above the ridge with Sarangkot falling away beneath you.

Glide over forested hills, terraced villages, and Phewa Lake, with the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre as your backdrop. Ask your pilot for gentle spirals or a calmer descent, depending on your comfort level.

A soft touchdown at the designated landing zone near Lakeside.

Drop-off back at your hotel, with photos/videos handed over if you booked that add-on.

Trek Difficulty & Physical Demands

Paragliding in Pokhara is not a trek and requires no fitness training, hiking stamina, or prior outdoor experience. That said, a few physical notes apply:

  • Mobility: You need to be able to walk/jog a few steps at take-off and land on your feet (or slide in on your bottom, which pilots can guide you through).
  • Health considerations: Not recommended for pregnant travelers, people with severe heart conditions, recent surgeries, or spinal/neck injuries. Let us know of any medical concerns when booking.
  • Nerves, not fitness: The only real “demand” is comfort with heights and open-air flight; the pilot handles all the technical flying.
  • Weight limits: Most operators cap tandem passenger weight around 100–110 kg; let us know if this applies so we can confirm with the operator in advance.

Best Time to Trek: Seasonal Comparison

Spring Mar – May Warm, active thermals, occasional afternoon haze
Winter Dec – Feb Cold but often clear, fewer crowds, calmer winds
Monsoon Jun  Aug Frequent rain/cloud, flights often rescheduled
