  • Best months: October–November and March–May, for the clearest Annapurna views and dry trail conditions.
  • A special draw: October through January is orange season in the hills around Kristi, peaking around December. A winter ride here often means fresh oranges along the route as well as clear, dry weather.
  • Avoid: The June–September monsoon, when dirt sections turn slippery and cloud cover regularly hides the mountains.

Itinerary

Pickup from your Pokhara hotel, followed by a safety briefing and bike/helmet fitting before transferring to the start point.

An easy start along quiet rural roads and trails, passing traditional villages, terraced farmland, and forest as the city falls away behind you.

The main effort of the day: a steady climb through the orange orchards, with valley views opening up over the Seti River, Begnas Lake, and Phewa Lake as you gain height.

The high point of the ride was a well-earned stop at the ridge for the full Annapurna panorama and photos, with Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhre all visible from one spot.

A short stop at this peaceful forest meditation retreat, a quiet contrast to the climb before it.

A local meal in the village: freshly prepared fish is the regional speciality with time to rest before the descent.

A flowing singletrack and off-road descent through forest and small settlements, suited to intermediate riders, with an easier line available on request.

Transfer back to your hotel to close out the day.

Trek Difficulty & Physical Demands

This is a moderate ride, not a beginner one; the climb is the main consideration.

Fitness demands:

  • One sustained climb of around 340 m to Kristi Ridge, taken at your own pace, on rural roads and dirt tracks
  • The rest of the day is comfortably paced, with stops for the viewpoint, the retreat, and lunch

Technical demands:

  • The descent runs on flowing singletrack and off-road trail with a few rougher sections  lively but not extreme, suited to confident intermediate riders
  • An easier, flowier descent line is available for those who’d prefer it

Who it suits:

  • Riders with moderate fitness who are comfortable with one real climb
  • Those looking for an authentic, less-crowded route with big mountain views
  • Winter visitors interested in the orange orchards
  • Riders short on time in Pokhara who want one proper active day
  • Less-fit riders can take the E-MTB upgrade, which handles most of the climbing effort, and the route can also be shortened

Best Time to Trek: Seasonal Comparison

Season Conditions Recommended?
Autumn (Oct–Nov) Clear skies, dry trails, sharp mountain views, orange season begins Highly recommended
Spring (Mar–May) Clear mornings, dry trail, warm days Highly recommended
Winter (Dec–Jan) Cool, generally clear, peak orange harvest around December Highly recommended
Monsoon (Jun–Sep) Wet, slippery dirt sections, poor mountain visibility Not recommended

Final Thoughts:

Kristi Village is the ride for travellers who’ve already seen Pokhara’s main viewpoints and want something quieter and more genuine: a real climb through working orchards and villages, a ridge-top Annapurna panorama that rivals any in the valley, and a relaxed local lunch before a flowing descent home. It’s an honest day on the bike, with the countryside and the mountains doing most of the talking.

If a big view, a proper climb, and a taste of rural Pokhara life sound like your kind of day, this is the ride to book.
