Phulchowkiis located at the distance of about 14 kilometers from Kathmandu in the southeast side. It is the highest hill among the surrounding hill of Kathmandu valley with a height of 2,782 meters. The name Phulchowki means “Hills of Flowers,” and it is also the name of the famous Hindu goddess where many Hindu devotees make a pilgrimage tour to this site. In the top of the hill, there is a shrine of Goddess Phulchowki surrounded by tridents and flags. It is a perfect stroll around nature where get a chance to witness many birds and vegetation. Rufous-gorgeted, flycatcher, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Chestnut-headed Tesia are some of the birds that be sighted in the area. The area of Phulchowki hill is surrounded by the dense forest which also includes rhododendron. And along with the birds, varieties of butterflies can be sighted too.
