Day 01
Arrival at Kathmandu (1300m)
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received and helped with your transfer to your hotel by our staff. Later today in the evening you will be picked up and taken to one of the finest local restaurants for your welcome dinner. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02
Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour
Today you will set off on a day guided sightseeing tour that begins from visiting palace square, temples, living goddess “Kumari”, in Kathmandu Durbar Square and then we drive further west to Swoyambhunath Stupa, also known as monkey temple. After a short break for day’s lunch in one of the local restaurants, you will drive east to the largest Buddhist shrine of Boudhanath and then down south to Pashupatinath temple, the sacred Hindu pilgrimage site in the whole south eastern, situated by the bank of holy Bagmati. Later today after the tour you will be dropped back to your hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03
Kathmandu -Syabrubesi (1460m) 7-8 hrs
An early morning drive after breakfast to Syabrubesi, the bus ride takes you to the winding uphill and downhill road, the drive passes through many rural towns and farm villages. The bigger town on route is Trisuli Bazaar, this place lies in the subtropical climatic zone the road from here climbs uphill to cooler region leaving the rice paddy behind to maize and millet terraced fields as the weather changes with the culture and the people as well, on arrival at the entrance of Dhunche 1,965m, the one and the only major town of the Langtang area and Rasuwa district. There's a Langtang National Park Check Point where your Trekking and Park permit are checked by the Nepalese Army serving as Park Warden. From here, our journey continues further downhill for 1-2 hours till Syabrubesi village is reached for the overnight stay.
Day 04
Trek to Riverside (2240m) 5-6 hrs
The trek from Syabrubesi is quite pleasant with few climbs for a while but the rest of the walk is gradual on the winding trail through the terraced farm fields and villages, as the trail descends and joins the path coming from Upper Syabru at the Riverside Lodge near the place of Bamboo, an ideal spot for overnight stay with ample time to go for a refreshing splash in the nearby river of upper Trisuli River.
Day 05
Trek to Ghoretabela (3020m) 5 hrs
The trek today leads to cool forest in the gorge following the torrent glacial river Trisuli upstream, the walk is more or less an uphill climb in the cool shade of rhododendron and oaks forest. About three hours of walk will bring us to a small clearing place of Lama-Hotel. From this place another 2-3 hours brings you to the wonderful spot at Ghore-Tabela for the overnight stay. Ghoretabla is in the midst of the forest of pines, hemlocks and rhododendron from here onwards you can feel the altitude also.
Ghoretabela in Nepali it means horse-stable, in the early days the people from Langtang as far as from Kathmandu use to trade with Tibet by the accessible route to Tibet-Nepal via Kiayrong and use to bring large number of Tibetan ponies, as this an ideal place for the cattle’s and horses to graze on the meadows with numerous creeks around for watering. Ghoretabla has a lodge and a Park warden's barrack where you permit is also checked.
Day 06
Trek to Langtang village (3430m) 3 hrs
After a pleasant stay here, the trek continues for a short hour on the trail to Langtang and its beautiful valley, we walk through the cool shade of the alpine wood for an hour, after a small stream leaving the tree line behind. The path leads uphill for an hour, then the walks get better on the gradual winding trail with few ups and down till the village of Langtang is reached by lunch time, here you'll have time to make friends and visit the villages with a glimpse of Langtang Himal peeping in the north on top of the great rock wall.
Day 07
Trek to Kyanging Gompa (3850m) 3-4 hrs
From Langtang village our morning walk leads through the gradual path for a short while, then the path winds uphill for few hours through the prickly Burberry and high alpine shrubs, and encountering "mani-prayer wall" where walking on the clockwise direction is the positive way of respecting the local culture and religion, as our walk leads further towards east the valley opens up and then walking on the grassy meadow with views of numerous snow capped peaks in the distance. The walk is more pleasant and can be vigorous due to altitude gain as we come to our destination at Kyangin Gompa. Kyangin Gompa, a scenic charming spot, with peaks looming from all direction, the closest peak that you can see is the Langtang Lirung of over 7,000m and its icefall just at leisurely distance from the campsite, Kyangin Gompa, a small monastery located on the top of the ridge formed by glacial moraine of rocks and boulders, within Kyangin Gompa area there are 6-7 lodges and a cheese factory.
Day 08
Acclimatization Day
At leisure, a well deserved rest day. After breakfast you can go for a short walk at the nearby hill called Kyangin Ri 4,700m. adding more heights to your adventure with a panoramic view of the surrounding snow capped peaks, visit the cheese factory with rest of the day at leisure.
Day 09
Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m) 6-7 hrs
After a wonderful time at Kyangin, our journey returns back on the same trail to Lama-Hotel a small settlement in the midst of the forest at the bank of upper Trisuli River.
Day 10
Trek to Upper Syabru (2720m) 5-6 hrs
The trek today follows the same route for an hour, then after the bridge the walk is pleasant through the rain and bamboo forest, after leaving the river down below, the climb starts uphill through the landslide area of rocks and boulders, passing through farm terraces till upper Syabru is reached, row of houses like a locomotive perched on a ridge. Syabru has a monastery near its helipad just few minutes up from the village.
Day 11
Trek to Singh Gompa / Chandanbari (3250m) 4-5 hrs
The walk from here follows the winding uphill trail above the Monastery, as the trek gains more height, superb view of Ganesh-Himal, Manaslu, Langtang and Annapurna range in the far west can be seen as we reach higher ground, after few refreshing stops in the teahouse on route, our journey continues an hour uphill from the farmlands into the cool shade of alpine forest, once out of the thick forest, comes to a meadow with one or two teahouses, a lunch break can be had here depending upon the availability of clean fresh water. From this spot the walk is almost gradual with good walk through the pines and rhododendron forest with view of Dhunche town down below. On arriving at Singh gompa, the first few houses are cheese processing factory, our overnight camp near the Monastery
Day 12
Trek to Gosainkund (4380m) 6 hrs
The trek today offers more spectacular views of array of snow peak range of Lantang to the north and Ganesh-Himal range north west along with Manaslu and Annapurna range due west, the walk is gradual up in the beginning for an hour, as we enter the woodland of oaks, pines and rhododendron after being in the cool shade of the forest, comes to a clearing where one or two houses teahouses are located, after a brief stop here with excellent view of the Langtang range, the trail continues uphill leaving the tree lines and lush vegetation behind for dwarf rhododendron, juniper and alpine shrubs bushes.
The walk leads uphill passing through few teahouses at Laurabina, with more views of the north western Himalayan range, after Laurabina which means a place walking sticks, during the auspicious time in and around August in the full moon as per the Nepali Luna calendar, the pilgrims comes to pay homage and where a ritual bath at Gosainkund pond delivers a pilgrims to paradise and drink of its holy water relinquishes the sins of a hundred lifetimes and the hindu pilgrims comes here to change their holy thread also, on the way back here at the top of Laurabinayak pass 4,165. Most of the pilgrims leave their walking sticks behind, needing no more as they head down, after a hard strenuous climb up. On reaching the top ridge, the trail descents for half an hour coming near the first two ponds, Saraswati and Bhiarav kund after a pleasant walk a short climb brings us to our overnight camp at Gosainkund near the shore of this glacial pristine pond. Here you can see lots of traces left behind by the pilgrims.
Day 13
Trek to Ghopte Odar (3430m) via Laurabina-La & Bhanjyang (4610m)
From Gosainkund a gradual walk on the small path along the bank of the lake, and climbing up near the small creek in between the rocks and boulders, the walk up brings us close to the small pond of Surjakund the trail here is more gradual winding up to the last pass of Gosaindkund or the east Laurabina La the highest spot of this trek. After reaching the top, a long descent brings you to Phedi (bottom) 3,630m a place with one or two teahouses.
A lunch stop is usually set here; it will be quite a relief after the long steep hard descent. After a nice lunch break, the journey continues towards east to the Helambu region, the trail from here is bit of everything gradual, short few uphill and downhill’s as you come back to the vegetation of junipers, rhododendron and other alpine bushes.3-4 hours from lunch will brings us at Ghopte (meaning overhanging rocks, a nature's gift as a cosy shelter to the pilgrims) around this area there are few small caves formed by overhanging large rocks. Ghopte has two teahouses; level ground for camping is very limited.
Day 14
Trek to Kutumsang (2600m) 5-6 hrs
After being in the absolute wilderness, the trail from here joins the other path of Helambu and to Kathmandu, a pleasant walk today through the alpine forest for an hour, with another one hour uphill to Tharepatti 3,510m. A lovely spot on the high ridge overlooking the views of the snow capped peaks of Jugal Himalayan range in the east and Ganesh-Manslu in the west; we can make out the ridge and the trail coming out of Gosainkund. A lunch break can be had here after a short walk from Ghopte, it’s worth a view with the lunch. From here, the trail descents for few hours towards Kutumsang for the overnight stop. Kutumsang a small Sherpa village and the exit and entrance of the Park as well.
Day 15
Trek to Chisopani Danda (2195m) 6-7 hrs
The walk from here is more pleasant passing through number of rural farm villages the trail brings us to a village of Gul Bhanjyang and to Pati Bhanjayang after a 3-4 hours trek, from this village a short uphill climb to the overnight stop at Chisopani danda a scenic spot at the top of the hilltop on route to Kathmandu and to other places at the rim of Kathmandu Valley. Chisopani, a scenic viewpoint with 4-6 teahouses and an Army Camp nearby, this places offers fantastic view of the Jugal Himal range in the north east and Ganesh Himal-Manaslu and Annapurna range in the west. Apart from the snow peaks, a lovely view of the surrounding landscapes and valleys down below.
Day 16
Trek to Sundarijal (1380m) and 1 hr drive to Kathmandu
The last day of this beautiful journey, with the cool morning leads through serene forest and farmlands after a few hours of gradual walk and to the top of the ridge of Burlang and Chepu Bhanjyang at 2,438m with a great view of Kathmandu Valley, from here the track descents to Sundarijal (meaning beautiful water) a lovely spot with cool patch of forest with monkeys and fresh streams, a picnic spot for most of the Kathmandu people who wants to escape for a day from the busy crowded metropolitan life in the city. In the early days it used to be a summer resident and palace of the Rana aristocrat rulers. The bungalow that's left now is used for the Scout training. Another hour descents brings us back to cvilization as you board in the vehicle for the drive to the inner Kathmandu from its eastern suburb Sundarijal the drive passes through the famed places of Boudhanath renowned for its enormous Buddhist Chaitya or Stupa with the ever present all seeing mystical eyes of Lord Buddha.
Day 17
Leisure in Kathmandu
Free day at leisure for individual activities (Guided Tour, Mountain flight on request) if you have more time before your journey back home you can do the extension trip White Water Rafting and Wildlife in the famous Royal Chitwan National Park for few days. Please let our staff or tour officer know if you would like to go on another short tour in and around Kathmandu Valley.
Day 18
Final Departure
You will be assisted with your transfer 3 hours before your flight departure time.
A scenic journey on the age old Tamang Tribe’s Heritage Trail and to the home of the elusive Red Panda and Snow Leopard, the trek passes through the cool shade of Rhododendron, oaks and pines forest.
In spring the forest are lively with the flaming blooms of wild flowers and the national flower rhododendrons, a beautiful contrast against the high snow capped peaks and the crystal blue sky.
Langtang area, at present is the third popular trekking area in Nepal after Annapurna and Everest region. This fabulous trek, a perfect combination of moderate and vigorous walk leading to the high alpine valley with the backdrop of high snow capped peaks, in the spring this place is alive with wild flowers.
Become a pilgrim, and head to the shimmering lakes at Gosainkund. There you will find peace and serenity alongside the Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims. It is no wonder this area is sacred, affording views extending all the way to the Annapurnas. Cross Laurabina Yak La Pass, (4,615 m), adjoining the Gosainkund and Helambu regions. At this higher altitude, the terrain will transform to arid alpine above tree line and the villages will become sparser. Descend on steep mountain trails high above the valley. Culturally, Helambu is one of the most culturally wealthy regions in Nepal. Prominent to this region north of Kathmandu, are peoples of Tibetan origin.
