EBC Trek via Gokyo Chola Pass

“On a towering picturesque valley amongst the rich highland culture with the view of the 4 world’s highest peaks”

This EBC Trek via Gokyo Chola Pass offers a great alternative to the traditional Everest Base Camp trek. From Gokyo four 8000m peaks, (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu) are clearly visible. There are several options for additional side trips and high altitude walks before traversing the high Tsho-la pass and reaching the foot of number one at Everest Base Camp. We will also have the opportunity to be at the highest spot of this trip at Kalapathar, which offers panoramic views of the towering giant snow capped peaks including Mt. Everest at stone throw distance.

This is an outstanding trek visiting the high lush valleys of the Khumbu, with time to explore villages and monasteries, and time to sample the incredible hospitality of the Sherpa people. Adventure begins with a beautiful, scenic flight to Lukla. This is a popular destination, which provides a fascinating contrast to the high Mountain views as we approach near. We trek slowly to Phakding our first day the next day we trek ahead to the Sherpa capital at Namche Bazaar.

We have time to acclimatize ourselves, before following the quiet trail to Gokyo high in the valley and visiting the ancient Buddhist monastery at Thyangboche. Descending to Namche, we are treated to incredible view of Khangtiaga, Thamserku, and the Nuptsse – Lhotse wall with the Mt. Everest towering from above. The views along the trail throughout provide tremendous sights, with a radiant panorama of snow capped chain of mountain ranges to all sides and many more exciting fun and enjoyment on the way.

The Everest region is understandably one of the most popular and spectacular destinations for trekkers, and it offers some of the most fascinating and enjoyable trekking, with beautiful views of the highest snow capped peaks of the world. This trek in particular reaches it’s the highest spot at Gokyo Ri at 5,357 meters which provides outstanding, breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and it their glaciers including Mt. Everest, which seems to be at a stone’s throw distance.
