Day 01

ARRIVE KATHMANDU (1300M)

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport you will be received by our staff and escort you to the Hotel. You will be informed of your pick up time for your complimentary dinner. Overnight at Hotel Manaslu or similar

Day 02

FULL DAY SIGHTSEEING IN KATHMANDU

After breakfast day take time to enjoy a day of relaxed sightseeing on a guided tour of some of the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding Valley. Join the devotees, pilgrims and wandering saddhus (holy men) at Pashupatinath. Pahupatinath is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal as well as being one of the most important Shiva temples on the subcontinent, situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Take time to walk around Bodhnath (Boudha) stupa, the largest in Nepal and one of the largest in the world. Boudha is also the centre of Tibetan culture in Nepal and a wonderfully vibrant, interesting community. Then visit palace square, temples and the living goddess Kumari at Kathmandu Durbar Square in central Kathmandu and then visit monkey temple of Swoyambhunath. Later today transferred back to your hotel.
You will have briefing this evening on Tibet tour and will handover your passports and paper visa for your travel to Tibet that begins the following day. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03

KATHMANDU – NYALAM 3650M 150KM

Today, You will cross the border at Dzangmu at the elevation of 2200Mt above sea level and then drive to Nyalam.The distance between Dzangmu and Nyalam is 30Km only but it will take 1 and half hrs to get there since the road is very adventurous in the gorge. On the way from Dzangmu to Nyalam, You will view a great gorge with beautiful green forest composed of different kinds of trees. During the monsoon, you can also view lovely water fall from different side of gorge.Nyalam is a small town with some government buildings and Tibetan district buildings. Guest house.

Day 04

REST IN NYALAM FOR ACCLIMATIZATION

The reason we have chosen one rest day here in Nyalam is in order to successfully complete your trip from Kailash without feeling sick as you have acclimatized your body to the high altitude one day at Nyalam without any difficulty so during that day, you need to walk around the town up and down and drink more water for the preparation of the up. coming days journey.

Day 05

NYALAM – SAGA-DRONGBA 4450M 400KM

Today you will drive around 8-9 hrs on a little bumpy road but the scenery is one of the most spectacular one during your journey to Kailash that you can see great Himalayan ranges and one of the most world popular snow mountain called Shisha Bangma (8200Mt) from the top of a pass called Thongla( 5200Mt). Besides a fantastic view of lake Pekutso will be appeared on the way and you can stop for photos with lake and snow mountain behind the valley.Saga is a small town with some government buildings and district Tibetan buildings.
We will continue driving in the valley with lots of nomad camps, Yaks and sheep are being grazed in the beautiful grass land. Once you see those nomads and their own live stocks, you will naturally feel the beauty of Tibet and her culture and custom.

Day 06

DRONGBA-BARYANG - MANSAROVAR - DHARPOCHE 4670M 370KM

Today, you will almost have the same view as the view from Saga to Drongba. You will also see the longest river flow which is Bharmaputara flows all the way from western Tibet via Shigatse, Yarlung Valley, Eastern forest region of Tibet and finally emptied into the Bay of Bengal.
The additional interest things that you can see today are several types of wild animals such as wild donkeys, wolves, foxes, ibex etc if you are lucky enough, I mean those wild lives are not certain that you can because sometimes they graze beside the main road, sometimes not that’s why I am telling, if you are lucky enough. Of course toady is also the most exciting day for you as it is the day of seeing the first spot of Lake Mansarovar and holy mount Kailash from a site called Chaktsal Kang where pious people do prostration to holy mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

Day 07

ENJOY KAILASH FESTIVAL

The Saga Dawa festival is to commemorate the birth, death and enlightenment of Buddha Shakyamuni.Thousands of pilgrims gather in Lhasa, circumambulate the Lingkor (Outer circumambulation), Bharkor(Middle circumambulation) and Nangkor (inner circumambulation) including the Potala Palace.They also climb to Bumpari and Gephel Utse to make incense and prayer flag offerings. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists also gather at Mount Kailash.

Day 08

DARCHEN - DIRA PHUK 4900MT 18KM

Today is the first day of your Kailash Kora which is totally around 53Km. You start your Kora from Darchen and after like 2 hrs walk, you will face Darpo Che where there is a huge prayer flag pole which is annually replaced by the pilgrimages on 15th of forth Lunar month, known as Saga Dawa festival, As well as Trulku monastery on your leftside up on the hill side. You can also see ibex and blue sheep running in the rocky hillside while you are walking and then you will reach Dhira Phuk which was a monastery before but nowadays you can only see the ruins of the monastery as the monastery was destroyed in the cultural revolution.

Day 09

DIRAPHUK - ZUTRUL PHUK 4750MT 20KM

Today is the second of your Kailash Kora which is indeed the hardest day of your three days trek. You will have to climb up to the top of Drolma La pass which is more than 5000Mt. There will be three sloppy hike to get to the top of Drolma La pass from Dhira Phuk and then pretty steep down hill with rocky path all the way to the valley. On the right side of the down hill path, there is a small lake called Thuje Lake, meaning compassionate lake.Zutrul Phuk was the cave where Mila Repa and Nagro Bonchung debated for their religion sects and nowadays, it is a small monastery.

Day 10

ZUTUL PHUK – DARCHEN 4700M 14KM-DRIVE TO LAKE MANSAROVAR

Today is the easiest and last day of your Kailash kora as you will trek down in the valley with beautiful distant scenery of Rakshas Tal lake .From here you will depart your Yak men and kind Yak and shift to jeeps. Rest afternoon at the lake Mansarovar and enjoy the view of Mt Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

Day 11

LAKE MANSAROVAR – BARYANG-DRONGBA

We drive back to Drongba. Stay overnight in camp.

Day 12

DRONGBA-SAGA-NYALAM

We drive back to Nyalam and stay overnight in guest house.

Day 13

NYALAM-DZANGMU-KATHMANDU

After the immigration formalities you will be received by our representative in Nepal sides for your transfers back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 14

LEISURE IN KATHMANDU

You will have full day of leisure time to rest and relax in hotel or just have one of our trip extension. Overnight at hotel.

Day 15

FINAL DEPARTURE

Today you will be taken to international airport for your flight home.

Kailash Saga Dawa Festival

Mt. Kailash 6714m is situated to the north of the Himalayan barrier, wholly within Tibet. It is the perfect mountain with awesome beauty, with four great faces; the eastern face is believed to be crystal, the western ruby, the southern sapphire and the northern gold. It is the spiritual centre for four great religions: Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, the Jain and the pre-Buddhist animistic religion-Bonpo.

Tibet remains one of the most interesting, remote and undeveloped parts of the world. It is without a doubt one of the most remarkable places to visit in Asia. It offers fabulous monastery sights, breathtaking high altitude treks, stunning views of the world’s highest mountains and one of the most likeable people you will ever meet.

The travelling in Tibet can be hard, adventurous and often unpredictable. Due to Tibet’s high altitude travellers with a history of heart, lung or anaemia problems should consult a doctor before even thinking about a visit. The main overland travel between Kathmandu and Kailash is an incredible, wonderful and amazing trip. However, if you are not up for a bit of adventure, or for accommodation, amenities that may be far from perfect, perhaps this trip is not for you as the trip to Tibet is not easy and is well worth the effort. Visitors should also understand before taking this trip that Tibet was only opened to tourism 19 years ago. The infrastructure of the Tourist industry is still very basic in this remote country.
